On Tuesday, you were given an additional modern hero reading to simply actively read, as well as the heroes essay assignment. This assignment is due on Friday, but I will give you until Tuesday to get it in (no more class time will be given). I also provided you with a booklet containing the following information: * how to write a critical analytical essay: Single source and multi-source * Attention Getters * Transitions On Tuesday, I will explain how to approach a comprehension (multiple choice) exam and then you will write one on Wednesday.
Today, students discussed the traits of a modern hero by examining the traits of a hero from the past. I then gave them the reading "Man in the Water" to read actively. This includes creating a three page summary at the end of it. If finished, the students then read "The lowest Animal" actively, creating a three sentence summary at the end. Finally, the students will answer a series of questions that compare both of these texts. This will take them thru until Thursday. If they finish the assignments, then they can work on their novel study. I have informed students that all due assignments (the text critiques) need to be in by the end of the day on Tuesday or the student(s) will have to arrange to do an alternative.
