Thurs. Oct. 26, 2017: Chapter One and Two Discussion/read Chapter Three

Today, I discussed how to write these timed summaries as well as some of the pivotal moments found in Chapter One:

Animosity between Jack and Ralph and Ralph and Piggy
Simon's weird influence
Ralph happy not to have "grown ups" (rules)
Island is sort of a paradise in that all needs can be met.

I then presented a chapter two journal question (times; ten minutes) which we then discussed.
Students were then instructed to read chapter Three.

Today, we did a timed journal on Chapters 10 & 11 of the novel, Lord of the Flies. I then discussed how people try to justify actions that they normally would believe to be wrong. Fri. Dec. 15, 2017: Hamlet Act IV

Today, we finished reading Act III of Hamlet and then read up to Act IV, scene 4. We will start on page 107 on Tuesday. On Monday, you will have the Act III quiz and another Shakespearean reading to read actively. Be sure to read over the commentary in your Hamlet book in order to be prepared for the test.
